Faith's 2nd home learning project for the year was to collect food to donate to a family at her school. I wanted her to put in more effort than just a note in the newsletter asking for donations, so we decided to go to family, church friends and neighbours and personally ask for them to contribute. It took us 2 monday evenings to gather the food, another afternoon to buy some extra stuff (Faith had to use $20 of her own money), another afternoon to make thank you cards and another afternoon to put together her write up to hand in.
It was such a cool project in a few ways.....
-She had to get out of her comfort zone and talk to adults about her project, asking for a food donation
-She had to be willing to sacrifice some of her own money
-She had to use quite a lot of her time to get the project done
-She learnt that sometimes not all families have the abundance of food that others have, and when lots of people contribute, we can help them out.

Shopping at Pak N Save with her own $20
This is the basket in the car the night before it got taken into school. It might look like it's full of treats, but underneath the special things there's lots of pasta, canned food, crackers, soup mixes!
Thank you notes were sent to everyone who helped by giving donations (Ella helped with making them one afternoon when Faith was still at school)
