When I told/asked her if she was going to do it she said 'yip'....Cool!
Sunday morning came and I thought it would be easy for her because on Kindy mornings she never comes straight out for breakfast. She sits on the couch and watches kids tv until I get her ready for kindy. She often goes without breakfast or has some dry nutri-grain in the car on the ride up the road.
Of course she had to be starving on the morning I'd wanted her to fast! She came out and I told her she could get straight into the shower so she could put her church clothes on (morning church makes our household pretty frantic every sunday). She started demanding weetbix and when I told her she was fasting she started grizzling that she really, really, really wanted breakfast. So, not wanting to force the whole fasting thing, she had breakfast and that was all fine.
When we got home from church I asked why she didn't want to fast. She looked at me and said 'i did Mum, I didn't eat at church!' We'll just keep being an example of fasting and talk about why we believe it to be an important thing for us to do and I'm sure she'll want to join in sometime.
Tonight we're having a lesson on 'a house of Faith'. Hopefully she'll enjoy it all being about the meaning of her name.....named after her beautiful, precious Grandma Ormsby xxx
