I was working (yay!) so I got to see her before, during and straight after school and it was so so so cool!!! I didn't cry like I thought I would, but I'm pretty sure I had a big grin on my face seeing my big girl in her uniform running around with her friends, doing jump jam, eating her lunch....
She pretty much told me I was cramping her style when I took her to her room, so I left her to it (despite wanting to stay until the very last minute!)
At morning tea she was sitting on her own and her eyes lit up when I walked around the corner. I ate with her and then watched her run off and play.
Lunchtime I just caught her as once again she was racing to the playground.
After school, she was excited to show me a 'treasure' (button) that her teacher had given her. Oh, did I mention she had a reliever on her first day!!!
Day 2 (today) was just as good, apart from a little episode at lunchtime where she got lost trying to find the library and was asking everyone for me :( No tears though so it was ok.
During block 1, the deputy principal came into my room to give me an update. He'd just overheard her saying to someone 'I can help you do that, I've been here at school for ages!'
Then during block 2, she turned up right in front of me as I was taking a Maths group and showed me her first bit of writing....'I went on a magic carpet'. Her writing was so fantastic that she'd been sent to the other deputy principal for a plastering of stickers all over the page and her teacher told her to come and show me as well.....Yay for me working at her school!
The excitement over her reader yesterday was incredible....a story about Bubbles that went up up up and down down down. We must have read it 10 times or more (with me and Ella on the mat while she was the teacher).
Tonight we had to do a puppet show with Patrick the Lion and Bernie the Panda because she's got friends in her class that like to play with puppets apparently. So cute!
All in all a fabulous start to school, and many more happy school days ahead.
The hat stayed on for most of the day....the only child out of 650 doing jumpjam with a bucket hat on, or any hat for that matter |
In a rush to play obviously! |
You look super cute in your uniform Poddy Pod!! So glad you've enjoyed your 1st couple of days & cool that Mum's been there with you!!
